Our Missing Hearts by Celeste Ng. Bird, a teenager and his father live inconspicuously trying hard not to blind in. Bird receives a drawing that reminds him of a folktale he remembers his mother teaching him. The note inspires a quest to find out  why his mother suddenly disappeared.
