Event Details

When you think of lighthouses do you think of their Keepers – the hardworking folks who kept those lights on even in the fiercest storms and worst conditions imaginable? Women have kept the lighthouses of America for centuries, but not always with the acknowledgement they deserve.

This Illustrated Lecture focuses on the hardworking and remarkable women who have kept the lighthouses of America, and whose stories need to be shared. Join Laura Keyes as she shares their history, their bravery, and their surprising stories. Miss Keyes will be delighting audiences with her presentation on Female Lighthouse Keepers at Prospect Heights Public Library.
